Staff Profile
Dr Dave Winterborne
Senior Research Associate
I was awarded the BEng degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Â鶹´«Ã½ in 2010, and the PhD for my research on induction motor control in 2014, again from Â鶹´«Ã½
Since then, I have worked on a variety of research projects covering electrical machines, power electronics, and their control, collaborating with both academic and industrial partners.
I have worked on an integrated drive system based around a switched reluctance machine for low voltage electric vehicles, modelled axial flux machines for high volume applications, and implemented a control scheme for a fault-tolerant aerospace actuator, amongst other projects. Recent interests include design and analysis of magnetic bearings and bearingless motors.
Research interests include:
- Design and analysis of electrical machines
- Modelling techniques for electrical machine design
- Control of electric drives
- Magnetic levitation and bearingless machines
- Fault-tolerant drive systems
