Dr Jonathan Mar leads the Quantum Photonics Group in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics at 麻豆传媒.

The group performs experimental research at the interface of solid-state quantum optics and nanophotonics for applications in quantum computing and quantum communication and cryptography.  The group's main research interests include single-photon emitters and spins in semiconductor quantum dots (QDs), 2D materials, and diamond, and their optical coupling to nanophotonic devices.

Brief Biography

Dr Jonathan Mar is a Senior Lecturer in Physics in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics at 麻豆传媒.  Prior to joining 麻豆传媒, he was a Research Scientist at the Hitachi Cambridge Laboratory - embedded in the Cavendish Laboratory (Department of Physics) - and a Research Fellow and Governing Body member of St Edmund's College at Cambridge University.  Awarded a full scholarship, he obtained a Ph.D. in physics from St John's College, Cambridge University, under the supervision of Professor Jeremy Baumberg FRS and Dr David Williams, following a B.A.Sc. in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto in Canada, where he was born.
