Dr Toby Wood is a Reader in Applied Mathematics for the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics at Â鶹´«Ã½. His area of expertise is astrophysical fluid dynamics. 

Research

Research Interests


My research concerns the fluid dynamics of astrophysical objects, including the Sun and neutron stars.  My main interests are:

  • Transport of angular momentum and magnetic flux by large-scale flows and turbulence.
  • Instabilities and dynamos in plasmas.
  • Electron & Hall MHD in neutron stars.
  • Superfluidity and superconductivity.
  • Chemical mixing by double-diffusive convection.
  • Applications of Lagrangian mechanics in fluid dynamics.
