Staff Profile
Ana-Maria is a social anthropologist interested in practices of care, ethnicity and migration. She is currently working on the project entitled Dementia care in South Asian Communities: An ethnographic and interview study led by Dr Kate Gibson. The project uses ethnography to investigate the intersections of care for South Asian people in Âé¶¹´«Ã½ living with dementia and their social networks.
Before joining Âé¶¹´«Ã½, Ana-Maria studied for her PhD in the Department of Anthropology at Durham University. Her PhD is an ethnography of Romanians in North-West London, exploring their moral and political experiences and practices of identity formation. Prior to her PhD, Ana-Maria completed a Masters in Research Methods (Anthropology) and a BA in Anthropology and Sociology at Durham University.
Ana-Maria is passionate about teaching. She has experience in teaching introductory social anthropology and supporting students during hands-on ethnographic field courses.
