Background

I am the Director of Â鶹´«Ã½ Advanced Therapies with team of skilled scientists, production and quality management staff providing clean room and GMP support for the development of advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) for clinical use and the management and delivery of cellular therapy transplant services. We are an integral part of the Â鶹´«Ã½ upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Pharmacy department and operate under MHRA and HTA approved licences. 

Â鶹´«Ã½ has long-standing expertise in cellular therapies with a well-established, innovative, haematology transplant service. More recently the Â鶹´«Ã½ Hospitals was one of the first Trusts commissioned to be a CAR-T therapy treatment centre. The Â鶹´«Ã½ Advanced Therapies has one of the biggest GMP units in Europe, across two sites at the RVI and International Centre for Life, offering processing, storage, development and manufacturing services to support the translation and implementation of advanced therapies. Â鶹´«Ã½ Advanced Therapies has a strong track record of delivering ATIMP commercial research and has a dedicated clinical trials manager. The wide range of cellular therapies supported has meant that the NHS Trust has one of the largest and most diverse HTA licenses with the MHRA licence added in 2009. 


I am an experienced professional in the healthcare, life sciences and technology sector with a proven track record in accessing funding, project & operational management, partnership management and business development, particularly at the interface between academic institutions and business. I have held senior roles with Â鶹´«Ã½ as well as a number of leadership roles in the private and public sector. I have a broad range of experiences and skills including business development, programme management and operational leadership. I also have a research background, with a PhD in Stem Cell Transplantation, having previously trained and work in haematological sciences at Â鶹´«Ã½.
