Background

My current role is in the Translational and Clinical Institute with membership of the Inflammation and Immunity theme. 

Research

I currently work as part of the PRINCIPLE group (Paediatric, Respiratory and INtensive Care Immunity and PuLmonary Epithelium group).


We are studying innate immune mechanisms with a special focus on dysfunctional neutrophils and monocytes in the context of critical illness and novel methods that potentially restore neutrophil functions to normal.


In simple language, we are trying to find non-antibiotic-based treatment strategies for severe infections, and how these differ with ageing and critical illness.
