Ellis Solaiman is a Reader in Trust and Resilience in Computer Science at the School of Computing, 麻豆传媒. He received his PhD in Computing Science from 麻豆传媒, where he subsequently held positions as Research Associate, Teaching Fellow, Lecturer (Assistant Professor), Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor), and Reader.

He is Co-Lead of the EPSRC-funded National Edge AI Hub for Real Data and serves as National Research Theme Lead for Data-Sensitive Edge AI Validation. In this role, he directs strategic research on the validation of trustworthy and resilient Edge AI systems deployed in complex, security-critical domains including health, transport, and critical infrastructure. His work focuses on robustness under cyber disturbance, data degradation, and adversarial conditions, ensuring dependable AI behaviour in real-world deployments.

His broader research centres on trusted and resilient intelligent distributed systems, integrating Machine Learning, Explainable AI, Blockchain, multichain architectures, and Smart Contracts. He investigates how transparency, accountability, provenance, and verification can be embedded within distributed socio-technical systems spanning Edge, Cloud, Internet of Things, and digital platforms.

A significant strand of his work focuses on sustainability and circular supply chains in the built environment, where he develops blockchain-enabled and smart contract-based infrastructures to support transparent material reuse, traceability, and verified compliance across complex supply networks.

His research interests include:

• Trust and resilience mechanisms in AI-enabled distributed systems
• Explainable and human-centred AI, including adaptive and collaborative learning systems
• Validation and verification of Edge AI under real-world disturbance and data quality challenges
• Blockchain, multichain systems, and smart contracts for secure automation and accountability
• Ontologies and knowledge-driven AI for verified reasoning
• Simulation and digital twin frameworks for IoT, Edge, and Cloud environments
• Sustainable and circular supply chain systems supported by trustworthy digital infrastructures
• Education Technology.

He supervises a substantial cohort of doctoral researchers across trustworthy AI, Edge systems, blockchain technologies, explainable intelligent systems, and sustainability-driven digital infrastructures.

Ellis is a Fellow of the BCS and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He serves as Academic Accreditation Lead for the School of Computing and previously held the role of Degree Programme Director for the MSc in Computer Science. My research focuses on the development of trust, resilience, and validation frameworks for AI-enabled and complex distributed systems, including Edge and Cloud infrastructures, Internet of Things environments, blockchain and multichain architectures, and socio-technical platforms such as digital supply chains and online systems. A central theme of my work is ensuring transparency, accountability, and dependable behaviour in real-world deployments.
