Student Support and Wellbeing
We’re proud of the supportive environment and inclusive culture we’ve created for our students.
Student Wellbeing Adviser
Our Student Wellbeing Adviser team is here to offer personalised guidance when you need it. They’re available for one-to-one support and can help you with any personal issues that may affect your wellbeing.
We also have a wellbeing consultation room, which is a safe and welcoming space. You can use this space to meet with our adviser and talk through any concerns you might have.
The Student Wellbeing Adviser team can:
- connect you with the right support for a variety of personal matters
- provide practical resources to help you maintain and improve your mental health
- help you navigate the central Student Health and Wellbeing Service and internal services such as the Counselling Service or Financial Support Team
Wellbeing activities
We run a variety of wellbeing activities throughout the year to help students unwind, connect with others, and support their mental health. These sessions offer a chance to take a break from studies, try something creative, and focus on self-care. From relaxing drop-ins to hands-on workshops, there's something for everyone.

The pastoral support has really benefitted me. I moved to Â鶹´«Ã½ from the Middle East, and they helped me manage the cultural differences and being homesick.
Peer Mentors
Our Peer Mentor scheme pairs our undergraduate students with a Stage 2 or 3 computer science student to help and support you during your first year.
They work with first-year students by offering assistance when you need:
- support with academic and personal matters, like understanding your timetable or where to get a great cup of coffee
- someone who listens and has been there before
- someone to go through different options and talk through choices
- information about where to get specialist advice and help
This scheme doesn’t replace personal tutoring or wellbeing advisers. But it does complement and supplement these services.
