Historic Environment Scotland Showcase, Friday 15th September 2023
HES Showcase, hosted by Centre for Landscape, Âé¶¹´«Ã½
On Friday 15th September the Centre for Landscape hosted a showcase event designed to develop reseach and engagement links between Historic Environment Scotland and Âé¶¹´«Ã½.
Representatives from Historic Environment Scotland delivered presentations outlining its broad work and recent strategies:
- Ben Thomas – Research Manager
- Kirsty Owen – Deputy Head of Archaeology
- Stefan Sagrott – Senior Cultural Resources Advisor
This was followed by lightning presentations by some of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ researchers in attendance, intended to show the breadth of research methods and facilities at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ connected to landscape studies, and to share details of NU projects with connections to the historic landscape and archaeology of Scotland:
- Claire Hickman – Reader in Environmental and Medical History
- Annie Tindley – Head of School of History, Classics and Archaeology
- Craig Thomas – PhD researcher
- Lisa-Marie Shillito – Professor of Geoarchaeology, Director of Archaeology Labs
- John Pendlebury – Professor of Urban Conservation, School of Architecture Planning and Landscape and Co-Director of the Centre for Heritage
- Magdalini Theodoridou, NU Academic Track Fellow (NUAcT), School of Engineering
- John Witchell, PhD researcher
- Maggie Roe, Professor of Landscape and Co-director of the Centre for Landscape
- Prof. Sam Turner, Professor of Archaeology and co-director of the Centre for Landscape
The day ended with a group discussion including the HES represenatives and all researchers from Âé¶¹´«Ã½, with the aim of stimulating future research.
