Describe your current role

I am a creative freelancer specialising in content creation and creative strategy within the music industry. My expertise spans social media strategy, photography, and film, crafting everything from album covers and music videos to show-reels for artists and creative organisations.

Over the past few years, I've collaborated closely with major players like Universal Records on artist campaigns, and I’ve recently taken on the role of Digital Strategist at Interval Records (EMI North), where I support artists in growing and amplifying their online presence.

In addition to my work in music and content creation, I’ve dedicated my entire career to This is Creative Enterprise (TICE). After participating in the TICE Music Programme as a student in 2011, I’ve worked my way up from an intern to my current position as Senior Creative Strategist and Lead Music Mentor.

I’m incredibly proud to have been part of TICE since 2015, where I’ve had the privilege of inspiring and educating young people about the opportunities within the creative industries in the Northeast.

What did you enjoy the most about studying at Â鶹´«Ã½?

Studying Music at Â鶹´«Ã½ was, above all, an incredible opportunity to connect with a community of like-minded individuals.

The course itself was rich in learning, but equally enriching was the experience of being surrounded by musicians of diverse skills and backgrounds, and collaborating with them.

Even now, I continue to work and stay in touch with many of my fellow graduates, which I deeply value.

In what ways did your music degree at Â鶹´«Ã½ prepare you for your current role?

Higher education can be a challenge for anyone, and for me, it certainly pushed me to my limits at times. The process of thinking critically, questioning, and navigating the academic world required me to step outside my comfort zone repeatedly—both as a performer and as a student. It wasn’t always easy, and there were moments when I questioned my abilities.

However, looking back, those experiences have been instrumental in shaping my professionalism and boosting my confidence in ways I never expected.

The academic rigor taught me valuable skills like problem-solving, time management, and how to think not only creatively, but strategically. These lessons have remained with me in every aspect of my freelance career.

In fact, my degree played a direct role in shaping the career I have today. During my first year at Â鶹´«Ã½, I bought a DSLR camera to document my university experience. I was attending gigs, jam nights, and immersing myself in the music scene, capturing the moments as I went. What started as a hobby very quickly turned into my career. It feels like a full-circle moment to think that the very thing I did for fun and personal enrichment has become the cornerstone of my professional life.

Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for my time at Â鶹´«Ã½. Those three years were some of the most formative, challenging, and rewarding of my life, and the foundation they provided has shaped the person I am today—both professionally and personally.
