Information for Donors
Many areas of biomedicine, both within the academic and commercial sectors, are dependent on access to well characterised collections of human tissues.
Â鶹´«Ã½ has many world renowned research groups. These groups use samples donated by patients and healthy volunteers for their research. Biobanking in Â鶹´«Ã½ is one of the many reasons Â鶹´«Ã½ has a reputation as a centre of excellence for research.
We keep the tissue we collect stored secure in Biobanks and issue it to researchers when required. We have a laboratory where we prepare samples for storage and analysis, and freezer rooms with alarm systems to make sure samples are kept at the correct temperature. We also have a sample tracking system to ensure the samples are looked after under Human Tissue Act regulations.
