Overview

Discover how the law intersects with data science in the age of AI, advanced cyber threats and information security.

Data analysis is transforming many aspects of our daily lives, from healthcare to retail and government.

As technology advances, so do the risks. Legislation is evolving. Cyber threats are more advanced than ever. Organisations need to know how to store and manage data properly, to protect themselves and their clients.

This conversion degree gives you a foundation in data science. It also helps you understand the legal principles behind it, and how they are changing.

Accomplished data scientists - including experts at the UK’s - will provide you with a strong grounding in programming, statistics, AI and Machine Learning. You will then explore legal aspects such as data protection, privacy, information security, cybersecurity and GDPR.

You’ll also learn about how emerging technologies such as AI are impacting data science and the law industry itself, and what that means for the future.

At every step, you’ll be guided by leading researchers in data, law and cybersecurity. Âé¶¹´«Ã½ is home to the Centre for Cyber Security and Resilience, while NICD helps clients deliver solutions to pressing issues using the latest data science techniques.

You’ll emerge with an understanding of how data science and the law are evolving and the skills to rise to the challenge.

Who this course is for

This conversion course is designed for applicants who do not hold a degree in computer science or a related computational field. It can lead to exciting careers in data science, law, or related industries. It is not part of a direct route to professional legal practice.
