Meet Christopher

Journalism, Media and Culture BA

Hi, I'm Christopher, I'm from the United Kingdom. Living in the local area, I set myself a goal to study at a Russell Group University. At the time during A-levels, it seemed nothing short of an impossible task. However, I reached my goal thanks to my persistence, lots of revision and going through the PARTNERS scheme.

Â鶹´«Ã½ always stood out to me. The city itself, but like the city, the university is beautiful with great architecture all around the campus.

Christopher

If you are a social person, like to ask questions and believe you can find a good story that no one else could, then this course is perfect for you.

My favourite thing about the course

My favourite part of the course is the section of 'media'. I think that it's amazing to write essays on the things that interest you and enable you to be passionate about. It's also incredibly interesting, teaching you about the history of media itself.

Â鶹´«Ã½ has only solidified what was already a thought in my head which I am grateful for. I have been set on doing PR for a while now, studying this course does feel like it will help me achieve that goal.

Receiving a bursary

I was very lucky and managed to secure a bursary which has helped massively. Being a student can sometimes be expensive, but the bursary really helps with everyday essentials like rent, leisure expenditures, food and more.

Societies and social activities

I love the social aspect at the university. Joining some of the societies helped me make friends in the beginning, even just to see some familiar faces.

There were plenty of activities around the city. There's bowling at Lane 7, mini golf at Junkyard golf, and many more.
